The Challenge of Chinese Children’s Emotion Regulation: Child Number, Parental Emotion Regulation, and Its Relationship with Reactions to Children’s Negative Emotions

In the context of China’s three-child policy, more and families have been changing from a one-child family to two-child or family. Both changes structure increase in child number may bring new challenges children’s social development, emotion regulation, parent–child relationship. This study aims deal with comparison regulation for different numbers its relationship parental reactions negative emotions. We examined emotions through questionnaire survey. A total 7807 parents Guangdong Province China participated this study. The results show that: (1) significant difference exists numbers. present significantly higher than families; (2) There is supportive non-supportive these families. children each family, worse less reaction, reaction; (3) Parental exerts positive impact on both play partial mediating role. findings emphasize potential risks family’s suggest that special attention should be paid
